Soul Saturday happens every "Last Saturday" of the month here at the HIdeaway Cafe - one of our newer monthly music series. Led by Danielle DeCosmo & featuring Blackbird Morning, this special once-a-month Saturday spotlights music of many genres - from pop to r&b, contemporary soul and jazz. There's nothing this band can't pull off with Danielle on the mic! Danielle kicks off the evening, followed by a special guest and Blackbird Morning takes us into the night. Doors open at 6. Show starts at 8.
DeCosmo plays guitar, mandolin, a little bass and piano and can harmonize with anything. She writes her own music and sings as if it is her last day on earth. Despite her ability to sing Aretha Franklin songs and rock out like Led Zeppelin, her voice still maintains much of her jazz-rich musical upbringing, with a clarity that you haven't heard since Ella Fitzgerald.
“She is small in stature, but has a big, big voice….think Susan Tedeschi. She was born way too late to be a torch singer at the Copa, but her voice will remind you of those silky 1940′s vocalists.”
―Steve Hart, Amelia Island Blues Fest 2010
