Alrighty folks... we have a great weekend lined up for you beginning tonight with the return and farewell (off to college in Nashville) to Luke Preston. The Clearwater native made his debut here at the Hideaway a few months ago and packed the house with his rich, soulful voice singing songs of friendship, growing up and love lost. We recorded a 5 song EP here in the studio proir to his release party.... come grab a copy and see what this young fella is all about. Doors at 6PM show time at 8 PM. $5Closing out the week Sat. August 13th, we welcome back good friend and songwriting craftsman, Mr. Dave Williamson. Singer, songwriter and guitarist, Dave performed in coffee houses and folk clubs in the 60's. As bass player and harmony singer for Don Williams' band, he did concerts, TV shows, radio, and feature films in the 70's. Two Dave Williamson songs were released on Williams' hit albums "Visions" and "Expressions." Dave was also a founding member of the original rock, blues, and country band The Mad Beach Band in the Tampa Bay, Florida area. Backing Dave up we welcome back two Tampa Bay area legends.... Mr Vinnie Sepleski on bass and the man himself, Mr. TC Carr on harmonica and vocals. This is one not to miss folks. Come on down. Doors at 6 PM and showtime at 8 PM. $5 Wednesday August 17th, we will be open from 5 PM - 8 PM with a music spotlight from 7 PM to 8 PM with the immensely talented, Downing family. Brothers Daniel and Bryan together with their father, Tom and uncle David take the stage for an hour of Tom's original music. Really great stuff folks and a whole lot of fun to watch. Come join us for what we hope to be another weekly addition to Hideaway's original music line-up. A great big thank you to last week's performers, the Wholetomes, Spark Notes, Booth Jewett and John Paul Goetsch. Another special weekend here at the Hideaway. Lastly but certainly not the least to be recognized... I'd like to give another huge thank you to all the talented singer songwriters that have been making their way down to the cafe every Tuesday and Thursday for Hideaway's "Living Room Live" original writers nights. The last few weeks have been quite special. The St. Pete/Tampa Bay area really has some of the finest artists out there... equal to any big city in the country. I've lived in three of the larger music cities and while they seem to have more of a centralized music scene they by no means have "the best" talent. My feeling is that... it's everywhere! But there hasn't always been a place or "scene" to gravitate to. With the help of small venues like The Ale and The Witch. The Craftsman House, Studio @ 620, The Local 662, the Hideaway Cafe, The Side Door Cafe, Ruby Elixer and many others, our little St. Pete can put itself on the map of the country's "best" music scenes. Just keep coming, artists and you music lovers, keep supporting. It's certainly a two way street and my sense is that it's moving in the right direction. |
