Helena Kletch is a songwriter, singer, actor and guitarist. Helena grew up in a small town in New Jersey. With dirty knees and fingernails, she rode her bike everywhere until the fire house blew the 8 o'clock whistle. Thats when she would come home to her grandma, mother and sister. Her father passed away when she was young, leaving her mother supporting two girls with a grandmother as best friend and caretaker. At night, her mother sang in local bands. Helena remembers watching her sparkle across the small stages of nightspots off the Turnpike. Helena knew at an early age what she wanted to do. Music offered her the refuge, expression and beauty she needed as a young girl.
When her Grandmother passed away, heavy emotion led Helena to start writing songs. It was the only thing that felt right. She turned inward as her best friend and caretaker passed on.
Helena, her sister and mother picked up the pieces and, like many Jersey families do, moved to Florida. She began spending more time with her stepfather who would talk with her about the universe, the meaning of life and mortality. He introduced her to jazz and off the wall thought patterns. Helena took a deep interest in choir and drama, becoming the president of the drama club and competing across the country. She and her sister formed a band called Alexander's Way with a Casio keyboard and her mom's old guitar, and started playing their way around western Florida.
Moving into duos, recording and performing as a solo artist, Helena has recently relocated to beautiful Lake Tahoe, California where she is currently finishing her first solo album. She is drawn to the mountains for their humble grace, humility and the people that remind her that beauty is everywhere she turns. She continues to write music for film and commercial production and has played several roles in films and television which have aired and are distributed nationwide. Helena also performs backing vocals for a national touring musical tribute revue, as well as performs in two regionally acclaimed acoustic duos, Helena & the Bear, and Little Town.
